Contests
District Contest
Connecticut is divided into five History Day districts. The districts and competition sites are as follows:
- Manchester District: Manchester High School
- Mansfield District: Mansfield Middle School
- New Haven District: Wilbur Cross High School
- Stamford District: Academy of Information Technology & Engineering
- Torrington: University of Connecticut, Torrington
The district contests will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010. Click HERE for a list of dates & deadlines. Please email history_day@chs.org or call the History Day state coordinator at 860-236-5621 ext. 252 if you are not sure where you should compete.
The top three winners in each division and project category from each district contest are invited to participate in the state competition on Saturday, May 8, 2010.

State Contest
The State Contest will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Connecticut Historical Society and the Greater Hartford Classical Magnet School.

Special Awards
The following special awards will be given to outstanding History Day entries at the state contest on Saturday, May 8, 2010. These awards include cash prizes and/or plaques, and are sponsored by local organizations that support the hard work of all History Day students. 2010 History Day in Connecticut Button Contest
Dear History Day Participants,
The 2010 History Day in Connecticut button contest has begun! Is your love for history partnered with an artistic flair? This is your chance to have your original design showcased on the official 2010 History Day in Connecticut buttons, which are distributed across the state at our district contests, and are traded with History Day participants across the country at the National History Day contest.
To submit an image, go to http://www.imgur.com, upload your image, copy the link provided, and send it to history_day@chs.org in an email. Some guidelines for emails:
In the subject line, please write HD Button Contest - Your Name
In the body of the email, please provide the link for your uploaded design and contact information for you and your History Day teacher (your phone number, name of your school, the name of your Hisotry Day teacher, and your teacher's email address).

Full rules and details of the contest can be found below. Please note that the deadline for submissions is February 5th, 2010 (the same deadline for History Day registration!) and designs may only have up to two colors (in addition to white).
The History Day in CT staff will select up to 5 entries to be voted on by you! Voting will open on February 9th, 2010, and continue until February 14th, 2010, and can be accessed from this page. Good luck; we look forward to your entries!
Rules
- Entries must be emailed or postmarked by February 5th, 2010.
- Only registered History Day participants are eligible to enter.
- One entry per person.
- Designs may have up to two colors (and white).
- Designs should be related to this year's theme, Innovation in History, and must include the year 2010.
- Designs should incorporate "Connecticut", "CT", or an image of the state.
- Your submission can be any size, but the button will be ROUND and 11/4 inches in diameter. The winning design will be adjusted to fit the button.
