Waterfowl

Ducks wearing tiny GPS units? That’s right. They’re part of a major research project to track mallard ducks in the mid-continent region of North America. This is the same technology used in our cars and boats – only small enough to fit on the back of a duck! The Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy in Litchfield is part of the study, but that’s not all they do. LRWC has the largest collection of waterfowl in the northeastern United States and is dedicated to preserving and conserving rare, threatened and endangered species of waterfowl. Diane Smith takes us on a tour.
